History

Bette’s China and Glass Painting was established in 1977 to supply the needs of porcelain art lovers Australia wide.

First operated by Bette Tait and situated in Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn [well-known as “Bettes”] Bette built a large and loyal clientele.

In 1986 the Carruthers family took over management of the business and continued the tradition through to 1992 when ownership was transferred to Karen Holland who relocated the business firstly to Camberwell and then onto Vermont, at which time the business name was changed to better reflect the general business purpose.

Judy Seymour is the present owner, artist and teacher, though many other well-known Porcelain artists are invited to join Judy to share their skills in our weekend workshops covering both new and traditional porcelain painting styles.

From 1997 Judy was based in Mont Albert, but the business is now situated in the beautiful suburb of Glen Iris. Close to public transport and within easy travel distance from central Melbourne, with a fully equipped and purpose designed Studio to cater for the needs of today’s Porcelain lovers, artists and students.
